10 Things I Stopped Buying

Niko is this guy who spend 12 months not buying anything, and he discovered that (buying less turns out to be a gain, for you, the economy and your local environment). Good things can last a very long time.

And he had 2 rules and he discovered a 3rd on the journey, and it was first don’t die, second don’t stick and lastly only buy things when they replace something used that has been worn out or doesn’t work.

So, as you watch this video, you might think Tommy, you are cheap, to cheap, but its not like I stopped spending money, instead I spend the money on experiences, on services, instead of just collecting more stuff.

I haven’t run out of ideas of things I want

And I don’t want to be an activist for minimalism

-Have we all gone completely insane and how do we stop this madness

-We buy all this stuff, that does the same thing ( just in a different design and style )

-How many handbags do you need before you realize you still have the same amount of money in your bank account



Crazy Rule

-12 months of not buying anything with 2 exceptions

-Don’t die ( food )

-Don’t Stink ( soap and shampoo and other stuff )

-When you buy something new, replace it with something old ( that is broken or needs to be replaced )



Two strategies :

-Instead of seeing offers as invitation, I started to see as attacks ( they want to my money, they want to sell me something I don’t need )



Spend Money on :

-Services instead of goods ( instead of buying a cd, go to a concert ) experience for items

-Buying goods is like sugar but experience are much more nourishing for the soul


10 things I stopped buying ( Save Money + Less is More )

1. iPhones ( can it do something my old phone cant do )

2. Cloths: different colors, different styles

3. Cars

4. Bad Investing I don’t understand

5. The Next TV

6. Premium brands and labels ( starbucks Coffee vs generate )

7. Subscriptions ( for things I don’t need )

8. Kitchen Stuff ( air fryer, Over, Food processor, toaster and all this silly stuff )

9. Computers ( I’m dummy for this stuff )

10. Non Reusable Items ( shaving with a machine, Coffee Filter, Water bottles, paper tower for nice quality rags )
