RARE Rolex Oysterdate ref 6694 w gold fluted bezel & champagne linen dial - all original from 1982

Hello and welcome! This is an incredibly gorgeous and rare beauty in excellent all original condition! It’s a Rolex Oysterdate Precision ref 6694 from 1982. Usually these come in an all stainless steel case with a smooth bezel and a plain dial. This one however is a rare (fully factory original!) execution with a solid gold fluted bezel - and matching gold crown - and an incredible champagne linen dial.

The Rolex Oysterdate was originally launched in 1953, as a ref 6094. In only a few years time several updated versions appeared, until in 1958 the ref 6694 was introduced. This remained unchanged in the Rolex catalog for three whole decades, until the model was finally discontinued after 31 years in 1989. The watch on sale is one of the later versions, from 1982.

The very rare original champagne linen dial is in superb condition, very sharp. It pops incredibly gorgeously, such a marvel to behold. The tiny details and finishing of the indices are also truly amazing to discover. Such a simple watch, yet so much depth. The steel Oyster case with solid gold fluted bezel is in excellent condition as well, it has been lightly refinished in the past. Both the gold Rolex crown and crystal are original. The crown screws down nicely.
The watch is a ref 6694, powered by a manual wind cal 1225 from 1982. Service history unknown, but it works well and keeps great time. It has nice wrist presence, measuring 35mm diameter without crown, and 42,5mm from lug to lug. It comes on a new leather strap.


The due to its relatively affordable price, the Oysterdate is the ultimate entry level Rolex, and especially with looks this nice, it’s hard to pass up on!
