This session is a crucial insight into the emerging opportunities for microfinance and carbon credit markets, starting with the ABCs of how the voluntary carbon market actually works for agriculture. We will explore the massive opportunity for small farmers to gain a new revenue stream from regenerative practices, but we’ll also confront various barriers: the high upfront capital, measurement and verification as well as the financial risk during the transition period. Our panel of experts will analyze how microfinance institutions can leverage new scientific models and data to create low-risk, scalable loan products.
