Targeting teachers and reaching over 73,000 pupils in Bugesera and Nyaruguru Districts per year, Teacher Self-Learning Academy (TSLA) project came in as the best method of improving learning outcomes by improving the quality of teaching and learning in Science and English using innovative technology.
With reference materials (short films) installed on smart learning devices, teachers learn from model tutors and replicate the learner-centered methodology and have access to innovative supplementary learning manual of Science and English.
The short films are complemented by ‘teacher reflection circles’ in which teachers form communities of practice to discuss what they have learnt from the instructional videos they watched, how they might put this into practice and any aspects they would do differently
