Since the advent of passenger aircraft, they have been used as a fast and luxurious means of transport by businesspeople and celebrities. In the 1920s, 30s, and 40s, these were mostly the then-luxurious scheduled flights, as only wealthy people could afford air travel anyway. However, there were already some aircraft built specifically as business jets, such as the Beechcraft Staggerwing. After the war, aircraft like the Beech 18 and DC-3 were often used by private individuals, and these aircraft were frequently specially modified. With the advent of the jet age, more and more aircraft manufacturers built business jets and turboprops. Nowadays, it is perfectly normal for wealthy people to own their own aircraft or at least to use one of the numerous VIP charter options. Today, it is also common for someone with the necessary funds to own a long-haul airliner as a private jet. In this video, I've only included modern aircraft designed specifically as business jets. The Boeing 737 BBJ, while technically an airliner, is built from the factory as a business jet and, apart from its appearance, shares no connection with the standard version. Other aircraft, like the Boeing 787 and Airbus A350, are standard airliners that are subsequently converted.
If you'd like, I'd be happy to make a separate video focusing solely on business jets.
