Today, we’re walking you through replacing the cartridge of our HammerHead Showers 1-Handle Pressure Balancing Shower Valve. This step-by-step tutorial shows you the entire process – no plumbing experience necessary! Tools you will want to have handy:

• Power drill
• Adjustable wrench
• 2.5 mm hex wrench
• Flathead screwdriver
• A small towel or cloth

Here is a recap of the steps to follow:

1. Remove the handle and escutcheon plate
Pro Tip: Cover the drain with the towel to prevent hardware from falling into the drain

2. Close the service stops by tightening the screws clockwise. Check to make sure water is not flowing before proceeding!

3. Remove bonnet, brass nut, and extract the cartridge

4. Flush the lines by slowly opening both the hot and cold water lines. Close them again when flushing is finished

5. Line up the alignment pins and install the replacement cartridge

6. Reinstall brass nut and open up the service stops to check for leaks

7. Reinstall decorative bonnet, escutcheon plate, and handle
