Is immunology quite hard? sqadia.com is here to help you through it. I am pretty much sure, that by the end of this video on immunology mnemonics, you will be able to memorize it with much ease.
So, let’s have a look at these fun mnemonics to help you get through it.
▬ 📌 Immunology (Mnemonics) ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
Mnemonics are an easy way to help your brain retain longer, what you learn. Let’s meet some educators, who will help you with some immunology mnemonics.
These medical mnemonics will focus on:
🔹DiGeorge Syndrome
🔹Sjogren Syndrome
🔹Goodpasture's Syndrome
🔹Immunoglobulins
🔹Hypersensitivity Reactions
🔹Systemic Lupus Erythematosus
🔹Celiac sprue
🔹Complement
🔹Interferon-gamma
🔹MHC-I vs. MHC-II
🔹T and B cells
🔹Syndromes
Ms. Carrie is going to introduce you to these syndromes:
👉 DiGeorge Syndrome
It is caused by the malformation of the 3rd and 4th pharyngeal pouches during fetal development.
👉 Sjogren Syndrome
A systemic chronic inflammatory disorder characterized by lymphocytic infiltrates in exocrine organs.
👉 Goodpasture's Syndrome
A rare disorder in which your body mistakenly makes antibodies that attack the lungs and kidneys.
She will be adding some quick mnemonics, to memorize salient features of these.
▬ 📌 Hypersensitivity Reactions ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
Hypersensitivity is an exaggerated or inappropriate immunologic response occurring in response to an antigen or allergen.
Now, these hypersensitivity reactions are classified into four types by Gell and Coomb’s classification.
What are they? And how to learn them in a memorable way?
Well, you can find the hypersensitivity mnemonic in the video.
▬ 📌 Immunoglobulins ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
Immunoglobulins (Ig) or antibodies are glycoproteins that are produced by plasma cells. They play an essential role in the protection against bacteria, viruses, and fungi. Let’s find out the way to learn the five types of Immunoglobulins, in order to appear first, in order of their presentation to B Cells, and much more.
▬ 📌 Diseases ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
Mr. Stanley is going to discuss these diseases:
Systemic Lupus Erythematosus - SLE
A disease in which auto-antibodies develop against nuclear antigens, including DNA, RNA, and DNA-RNA-associated proteins, like histones.
Celiac sprue - Celiac Disease
also known as Celiac Sprue or Gluten-Sensitive Enteropathy, is a chronic disorder of the digestive tract, that results in an inability to tolerate gliadin.
Mr. Stanley has some mnemonics for SLE and Celiac disease. But he says that he will not reveal it here unless you watch the video.
▬ 📌 Complement ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
The complement system, also known as complement cascade, is a part of the immune system that enhances the ability of antibodies and phagocytic cells to clear microbes and damaged cells from an organism, promote inflammation, and attack the pathogen's cell membrane. It is activated by the three pathways.
🔸Classical Pathway
🔸Lectin Pathway
🔸and Alternative Pathway
To memorize the main distinct features among them, you have a mnemonic “C and A.”
Let’s see what it refers to.
▬ 📌 Others ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
Not only this, but Ms. Marci is going to tell you a lot about:
🔹Interferon-gamma
🔹MHC I vs. MHC II
🔹T and B cells
Of course, you can find mnemonics in the video only.
