How to cut a bone nut: the definitive guide! Everything you need to know, including tips and tricks you're not going to find anywhere else, such as my proprietary method for spacing and cutting the slots.

Note: the removal method I used for the nut is one I use often on Fender style guitars, and one that was taught to me by my mentor Steve K. over 17 years ago.

Some of these nuts will not come out by pulling or wedging with end nippers no matter how hard you try, nor will they bang out of the side of the slot with a punch and a hammer. The precision screwdriver really gets in there, and if you're careful, the 'damage' is extremely minimal, if there is any at all. It may be possible to just get it in there a little bit, and then use end nippers to wedge the rest of the nut up and out of the slot. Feel free to experiment.
