New week new theme! For this week, we're going to TRY, emphasis on TRY, to work in a single value. Every day of the week we'll start off with a different value. The biggest and most evident sacrifice is going to be tonal contrast. We're going to have to rely on other ways to achieve contrast, mainly by complementaries, by temperature (warm vs neutral vs cool), or by saturation (saturated vs gray). Or, if we choose to, we will just make really vague images that are hard to read, because why not, that's also pretty cool!!! I say I'm going to try to hit that single value, because I usually work with an open, messy palette, so mixing for me is something that I wouldn't really describe as accurate. I'm going to make my best effort and fight off my natural tendency to describe three dimensional form with the help of tonal contrast. It's for sure going to be a tough week. Btw, this is a Zorn palette lol! Clearly not the image we would usually associate a 4 color palette with an accent in saturation with, but that's the awesome part about setting specific boundaries for ourselves when we work. In the end it's about rediscovering possibilities in things that we perhaps once saw as being monolithic.
