Star Wars Weekend!!! An amazing annual festival that took place at Disney’s Hollywood Studios at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando Florida. The epic event started in 1997, ran again in 2000 and 2001, and then annually from 2003 until 2015. The event was canceled shortly after the Disney Acquisition of Lucas Film when much bigger Star Wars plans were announced. Plans that untimely became Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge!
Star Wars Weekends were a Dream for any Star Wars fan, myself included. From looks behind the scenes, the legends of the force motorcade with the 501st, celebrity autographs, Jedi Mickey and R2MK, exclusive collectibles at Darth’s Mall, Aackbar’s snack bar, Fell the Force VIP Package, Galatic Breakfast at the Sci-Fi, what I miss most? HyperSpace Hoopla! The ultimate conclusion of each day at Star Wars Weekends, at least until 2013. I just uncovered front-row footage from the last Star Wars Hyperspace Hoopla!!!
Interesting that Disney was OK with using the characters in a Dance-Off before they acquired Lucas Films. This may have been the last time Jedi Mickey says…. “May the Force be with you!”
