Ustad Mujahid Hussain Khan Saheb,who is the direct successor of Rampur Saheswan Gharana He is eldest son of Great Maestro "Ustad Sarfaraz Hussain Khan Saheb" who was the Ex-Procuder of All India Radio and used to be a phenomenal and reputed vocalist of his times.He is also the eldest Grandson of the legendary "Padma Bhushan" Ustad Nissar Hussain Khan Saheb" who was one of the pioneer's of thAis gharana.He initially received his music training under the worthy guidance of his Grand Father the legendary "Ustad Nissar Hussain Khan Saheb and subsequently groomed and nurtured by his illustrious Father the reputed "Ustad Sarfaraz Hussain Khan Saheb".He had also undergone with his musical training from his maternal grand father the renowned "Ustad Rasheed Ahmed Khan Saheb" who used to be a eminent vocalist of his times and also from his maternal uncle the reputed "Padma Shree" "Ustad Hafeez Ahmed Khan Saheb" who was the Ex-Chief Procuder of All India Radio.Ustadji has throughout been acclaimed by his performances as one of the paramount exponents of this gharana by all the music connoisseurs.He had been awarded with the highly prestigious award which is the "Shobna Award" in 1990.He was also awarded with another highly prestigious and coveted award which is the "Sur Mani" award in Mumbai.He has also got the 1st prize in All India Radio Music Competition for both "Classical & Light" music in 1976.He has frequently been awarded with innumerable highly prestigious awards not only in India abroad as well. Ustad Mujahid Hussain Khan Saheb is not only a phenomenal and eminent vocalist of Rampur Saheswan Gharana,however is the most proficient and immaculate "Guru" in today's era.Amongst his pupil's the first would be his sons the very talented Arshad Hussain Khan & Shahbaaz HussainKhan,Anita Singhvi (Wife of renowned "Abhishek Singhvi" who is M.P of Raj Sabha and Spokesman of Congress I),Gita Dey,Sandeep Baghchi (Who use to be a joint Secretary of Govt. of India),Anjali Alexandra,Dr.Divya kaul (who has done P.H.D in music from Delhi University),Amrita Kaak (playback singer in bollywood),Surinder Kumar Rohilla,Vidya Shah and many more.
Ustadji is also renowned for his distinctive and exquisite "Tarana" style which he sings exactly in the same manner which his Father and Grand father used to sing.
Ustad Mujahid Hussain Khan Saheb is indeed one of the foremost vocalist of Rampur Saheswan Gharana who is cascading the legacy to an extraordinary level and also one of the greatest exponents of North Indian Classical Vocal Music in today's era.
