A top religious teacher and one of the ruling elites. He kept the commandments, including the Sabbath. He followed the health laws. He was looking forward to the soon coming messiah. But Jesus told him that everything needed to change. He needed a new beginning with a new source. He needed to look to Jesus as his savior, his healer. Then he could truly live.
The event that destroyed the disciples' hopes, confirmed Nicodemus' faith in Jesus. He boldly stepped forward and gave Jesus the honor of being buried like a king. Nicodemus had become a friend of God.
