Immigrants from Russia, Joseph Anton and Elizabeth Materie were farmers with their families in Saskatchewan, Canada. They met through their families and married, had children and moved to Whitla, Alberta where they continued to farm. The survived many hardships. Cold Alberta winters, drought, sick children and isolation. They kept themselves company with their church and music.
Explore the interior of this historic pioneer home and walk the empty rooms once filled with music and love. Pay close particular attention to the woodwork, nails, worn wood and even a book of poetry. (Permission Required).
