An influence line for a single concentrated load represents the variation of a specific structural response (like shear, moment, or reaction) at a point as a unit load moves across a structure. It's a graph that helps determine the maximum effect of a moving load on the structural response.

Example:

Imagine a simple beam with a unit load moving across it. An influence line for the shear force at a specific point on the beam will show how the shear force changes as the unit load moves along the beam. The maximum value of the shear force at that point will be when the unit load is at the position on the influence line where the ordinate is at its peak.
