Grayston Ives (also known as Bill Ives) was one of the tenors in the early days of the close harmony group the Kings Singers, and was later Director of Music at Magdalen College, Oxford. He composed the Partita on ‘Hursley’ or ‘Grosser Gott’, Holy God we praise thy Name, for a church music conference in Tennessee in 2011, and after the theme, it is presented as a series of eight variations following the traditional dance forms of the keyboard suites and partitas of the 17th and 18th centuries.
Many thanks to Daniel Cook and Joseph Beech for their help in facilitating this recital.
