The old gib on my Monarch Model K 16" Metal Lathe was too thin after milling and scraping the cross slide so a new one was needed. Made from a piece of cast iron, this gib was milled to shape on the milling machine to get it ready for grinding. I will show how to use a Kennametal face mill to get it to rough shape and then using the old gib as a template, the taper is milled.
