Did you know that Liwa-Liwa beach has a unique history?
It wasn’t always this famous! After the massive Mt. Pinatubo eruption in 1991, the coast here was covered in volcanic ash.
This is why the sand in Liwa is famously soft, powdery, and has that signature gray-brown color!
Because the area was secluded and had great waves, it eventually became a favorite spot for the local surfing and skimboarding community.
