Fire Roll - One arm/injury - Wet conditions in the Woods on Natural Surfaces survival challenge

I was asked to perform the Fire Roll Friction Fire method simulating an injury, in wet conditions, on natural rolling surfaces and out in the woods. At the time of filming there was a little sleet and the humidity was 95%. My rolling surfaces were damp as they were outdoors during this snowstorm. I brushed the snow off of them the best that I could(they were still wet though). Initially I was going to use my top rolling block to set the ash on but decided to make this more challenging by brushing it off into the wet snow to draw some moisture. The cotton actually got wet from the stone base so I had to roll a little longer. My free or "injured" hand was tucked behind me in my waist band during the fire making. I collected my tinder bundle today so it was damp and I had to gently coax it to flame. These are NOT ideal conditions to be performing this method in but it proves that it can be done. If you are going to use this method outdoors in bad weather then make sure that your rolling surfaces are as dry as possible. Moisture can be wicked up by cotton or other plant fibers hindering the formation of embers.
The concept of using this method with one arm in the event of an injury is nothing new. This is one of my original ideas and I made a video over this 4 years ago. The video above is a better demonstration as the weather and damp cotton made this more challenging.
If you are an amputee or have limited use of one of your arms and are looking for a primitive fire making method then this one is for you. I have used this method with more than 20 different plant fibers as well as various natural rolling surfaces. This is a TRUE primitive technique.
Yes, there are far better methods of making a fire. The Rudiger Roll is a last resort WORST CASE SCENARIO survival fire making technique. If you ever have to make fire using this method then I wish you the best of luck.
