How to Tumble Beach Rocks to a Great Shine

Have you ever wondered how to tumble beach rocks? Do you tumble in a rotary tumbler? Watch how I use a National Geographic Tumbler to polish some rocks from Lake Superior.

These are the steps I took in this video. For the last three stages, you could probably get away with a little less time.

Stage 1: 3 TBSP 46/70 silicon carbide (60/90 grit or 80 grit or something similar would work too) for three days at time. Repeat until each rock is flawless.
Stage 2: 3 TBSP 220 silicon carbide for seven days
Stage 3: 3 TBSP 500 aluminum oxide for ten days.
Stage 4: 3 TBSP aluminum oxide polish (1-2 micron or over 10,000 grit) for fourteen days.
