Many people head to the Minnesota lakes during the summer for fishing and other recreation. One busy stretch of highway on the way to Detroit Lakes Minnesota, cuts through an odd-looking parcel of land, surrounded by cottonwood trees. This used to be the Edward C. Schroeder farm, which used to be one of the most beautiful in the State of Minnesota. At one time, it had thousands of trees on the farmstead, prize winning Holstein cows, and fields of potatoes. Driving along Minnesota highway 336 today, a person would have no idea of the rich history is associated with this parcel of land.
