(Intro)
Purpose can be sacred.
But function decides whether it’s holy.
(Verse 1)
I gave it all away, called it virtue
Bled myself dry just to prove I was true
Wore devotion like a crown of thorns
Wondered why the system kept leaning on me more
I thought sacrifice meant purity
Didn’t notice I was outsourcing stability
Called it faith, called it strength
Didn’t see the bill I was handing to everyone else
(Pre-Chorus)
Intentions clean, structure weak
Truth don’t live where the math won’t meet
(Chorus)
Unholy purpose, dressed in light
Means mean everything, outcome dies
If I break myself to keep it pure
Who pays the cost of what I endure?
Unholy purpose, soft and proud
Says the right words, but won’t show up now
Holiness isn’t what you meant to do
It’s what survived because you did
(Micro Spoken Word - after first chorus)
If you win the game but lose your soul to the flame,
what did you really gain?
You can’t stand in victory
if there’s no one left inside you to enjoy it.
And if you never win anything,
if every loss is called purity,
what is that virtue worth
when nothing ever breaks through?
(Verse 2)
I’ve seen the other side burn it all down
Call cruelty progress, wear crowns of ash
Outcome worship, zero restraint
Everything’s justified if you “win the match”
But a world you can’t inhabit
Isn’t conquest, it’s damage
You didn’t solve the pain
You just moved it somewhere you don’t feel it
(Pre-Chorus 2)
One path dies by self-erasure
The other dies by blood-soaked measure
Chorus (repeat)
Unholy purpose, dressed in light
Means mean everything, outcome dies
If I break myself to keep it pure
Who pays the cost of what I endure?
Unholy purpose, sharp and cold
Outcome wins, but the soul is sold
Holiness isn’t what you destroy
It’s what still lives when you deploy
(Guitar choke solo with cinematic synthwave)
(Bridge / Main Spoken Word)
There are three ways to play this.
One says the means are everything
and the outcome doesn’t matter.
That’s unholy purpose.
One says the outcome is everything
and the means don’t matter.
That’s dark utilitarianism.
Both fail.
What’s holy
is when intent and consequence
stand in the same room.
Cruelty isn’t progress.
Self-destruction isn’t virtue.
Results matter.
So does the soul that has to live with them.
(Final Chorus)
Unholy purpose, I see you now
Good intentions, broken ground
I won’t bleed just to stay “pure”
I won’t burn just to secure
I choose the path that holds the weight
Where care and consequence equilibrate
Not spotless hands, not scorched remains
But work that lives beyond the pain
(Ambient guitar solo reflective tone)
(Outro)
Holiness shows up.
And it leaves something standing.
Mercy with teeth.
Not incompetent and not evil
Vertigo flip-- CHECKMATE!
On..
