PSJA ISD has launched a Systemic Early Literacy initiative that focuses on districtwide phonics instruction for elementary students. This approach aims to strengthen foundational reading skills by ensuring that all Pre-K through 5th-grade students receive consistent, research-based phonics instruction across campuses. The goal is to improve literacy outcomes by teaching students how letters and sounds work together, which is critical for reading fluency and comprehension.
