THE REMNANT OF ISRAEL: the History, Theology and Distinctives of the Messianic Jewish Movement of believers in Messiah Yeshua - Jesus

A growing number of Christians are aware of the Jewish roots of their faith and are incorporating Jewish and Old Testament traditions into their faith and practice. Those traditions do NOT involve going under the Mosaic Law, but rather allow Christians to experience the Jewish roots of their faith as the Apostles did. This series of 10 classroom sessions sheds light on the basis for that, with an emphasis on the history, theology and current issues facing those of us who are Jewish believers as well as those in evangelical churches who desire to incorporate these biblical traditions. Over the years this movement has been called by a number of names: converted Jews, Hebrew Christians, messianic Jews as well as the separate but associated mission organizations such as Jews for Jesus, Chosen People Ministries and several others.

In recent years videos from both Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox groups have circulated, each claiming they are the original church. However when the history is considered, what is revealed is that the Jewish believers in Jesus in their Messianic Congregations were there before both of them, the original followers & apostles, and as those now famous church institutions gained power they were able to suppress the congregations of Jewish believers and force their assimilation, along with a shift of doctrine away from the primitive New Testament beginnings.
This corrects the recent falsehoods told by Candace Owens & Tucker Carlson which lead people to anti-semitic conclusions.

The current Messianic Movement is very diverse in beliefs and doctrine and even in culture. There is no central authority, and anyone who desires to use the label messianic is able to. That has led to a number of church with clearly false doctrine using that term as well. For those of us who are Jewish believers and hold to a strictly conservative biblical doctrine, we have great agreement and fellowship with Bible preaching evangelical churches.

This series of 10 classroom sessions was filmed in August 2025 before a group of 35 messianic Bible students at the Ariel school of Messianic Jewish studies at the Shoshanah campus in upstate New York. The doctrine here is fully in line with the conservative evangelical understanding, with the additional background that the instructor brings as a Jewish believer in Jesus the Jewish Messiah and Savior of all.

Other than the first session, each one-hour session was divided into two parts averaging 27 minutes each for easier viewing.

Mottel Baleston was born into a Jewish home in New York City and attended Jewish and public schools there. He came to faith in Messiah Jesus after reading the Messianic prophecies in the Jewish Bible.
He is Director of the "MESSENGERS OF THE NEW COVENANT", communicating the Good News of Messiah to the Jewish community, discipling Jewish believers and educating Christians concerning the Jewish roots of their faith. He established a Messianic Friday evening fellowship and also served as Messianic Rabbi of a Messianic Jewish Congregation in New Jersey, as well as a Hebrew class instructor. His articles appear in Ariel Magazine, and his teaching videos on several online venues. He is a graduate of Northeastern Bible College and earned the 5 year Certificate from Ariel School of the Bible, Dr. Arnold Fruchtenbaum founder. He additionally studied at Ulpan Beit HaAm Hebrew Institute in Jerusalem, Israel.
