We receive several messages from players inquiring about the new 4 valve Bb trumpet. Here is a very simple demo video for your interests:
There 2 main functions of this new 4 valve Bb trumpet:
(1) easier to reach lower registers by engaging the 4th valve, this could practical for some music
(2) turn the overall key to F - this is a fun feature maybe good for solo music, just extend the 1st, 2nd and 3rd tuning slides and keep the 4th valve engaged. Then apply the same fingering of Bb trumpet on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd valves with looser lips. Now you can play F key trumpet.
