In ancient China, near the northern frontier, there lived an old man known as "Sai Weng." One day, his horse wandered away into enemy territory. Neighbors came to console him, but he responded, "Who knows? This might be a blessing in disguise." A few months later, the horse returned, bringing along a fine steed. While the neighbors congratulated him, Sai Weng remarked, "Who can say if this isn't a misfortune?"
Later, his son, while riding the new horse, fell and broke his leg. When neighbors offered sympathy, Sai Weng said, "Perhaps this will turn out to be fortunate." Indeed, when invaders attacked, all able-bodied men were conscripted, and many perished. Sai Weng's son, due to his injury, was spared, and their family remained safe. This story illustrates that misfortune can be a blessing in disguise, and vice versa. Therefore, staying positive is crucial.
A special thanks to Bay Area radio star Ken Mai for playing Sai Weng’s son.
