This session on cultivating compassion is hosted by Erin Cunningham-Ritter from the College of Arts and Sciences Be Well program, featuring Dr. Patricia Gonzalez as a co-host and Rama Muhammad Mian, a PhD student in the Department of Ethnic Studies. Rama shares her background in trauma healing and guides attendees through a meditation practice while discussing the ancient Buddhist concept of Brahma Viharas and its relevance to modern compassion practices. The session concluded with discussions about self-compassion as resistance against harmful systems, the importance of interconnectedness and nature-based practices and upcoming events related to health and wellness research.
