The fairy tale follows Happiness Stan in his quest to find the missing half of the moon after seeing the moon at half-phase in the sky. Along the way, he saves a fly from starvation, and in gratitude, the insect tells him of a wise man who can answer his questions. Stan magically transforms the fly to gigantic proportions, and seated on its back, he undertakes a journey to the cave of Mad John the Hermit. He explains to Stan that the moon's disappearance is only temporary and points out that the moon is now full again and finishes by singing a cheerful song.

Colour Me Pop was a British music TV programme broadcast on BBC2 from 1968 to 1969, a spin-off from the BBC 2 arts magazine show Late Night Line-Up.
