A month ago, Mr. Angelo Bonati, the former CEO of Panerai, passed away. It was a pity and made me think a lot. I had worked with Mr. Bonati in 2006 on the theme auction of Panerai at Sotheby’s – A Collection of Exclusive Timepieces. Thanks to his vision, support and trust, the auction was an outstanding debut, and I received a lot of praise for my White Glove Sale. While I am grateful for his kindness, I would like to take this opportunity to talk about Panerai, a brand that I once had high hopes for and loved. Why did it stand out and once rival ROLEX? Why did it fall from grace and be despised in recent years? Can Panerai regain its momentum when the trend is small-sized watches? Let’s feel its pulse!
