Don't Let Your Faith Be Shaken

Hey guys, in this video we discover the themes of unwavering faith and trust in God through the trials of Job he lament of David in Psalm 22, and the prayer of Habakkuk. Each of these chapter emphasises the writers feeling of depression and suffering . However, a common theme in each of these chapters is that they all overcome this feeling of hardship through God's strength and His faithfulness to us. Each of these passages reminds us that even in the darkest times, our faith can remain strong, and God's presence is steadfast.

Job 1: Introduces Job as a righteous man who is blessed with wealth and a large family. However, God allows Satan to test Job's faith by taking away all his possessions and children. Despite his immense suffering, Job does not curse God, demonstrating unwavering faith.

Job 2: Testing of Job continues as Satan afflicts him with painful sores all over his body. Job's wife urges him to curse God and die, but Job remains steadfast, refusing to speak against God.

Psalm 22: Lament of King David, who feels abandoned by God amidst his suffering. However, despite his feelings of despair, David expresses trust in God’s faithfulness and prophesies a future where all nations will worship the Lord. This chapter is often regarded as a prophesy of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Habakkuk 3: Prophet Habakkuk offers a prayer expressing his awe of God’s power and works. Despite the coming trials and hardships, he resolves to rejoice in the Lord, trusting in God's strength and salvation.


Often times as we are all humans, we may think that it was not fair for God to take away everything that Job held dear and gave him sickness to test his faith. However, to tackle this moral question there is no easy answer. We must understand that God is just and loving as such the story of Job is not meant to suggest that God will necessarily bring suffering on everyone in the same way. Job's experience was extreme and serves as a narrative to explore themes of suffering, faith, and divine justice.

Secondly, God's ways and purposes are often beyond our understanding. This doesn’t make suffering less painful, but it does remind us that there is a bigger picture that we may not see. It’s natural to want life to be fair, but the Bible also challenges us to think beyond fairness to the concepts of grace, mercy, and trust in God’s character. Sometimes, what seems unfair from our perspective might be part of a larger, redemptive plan that we can’t fully grasp in the moment.
