Remaking an Akoya pearl bracelet

Yesterday, I delivered the bracelet I made to the customer. He is someone I work with on weekdays, and we sometimes go out for meals together. His name is M, and he bought a necklace for his wife. He also purchased a bracelet for himself.

Their birthdays are both in December, and I was invited to their birthday celebration. I gave them the necklace and the bracelet there. His wife loved the necklace very much. Then I asked M to extend his arm, and I fastened the bracelet onto his wrist. Two seconds after putting it on, the clasp came off.

That brings me to today’s work.

It seems the crimp was weak, and it came off easily with just a little pressure. The bracelet I remade also came apart easily when pressure was applied. After switching to a smaller crimp bead, it no longer comes off. It seems that with larger crimp beads, it is difficult to secure the wire completely.

So far, I haven’t received any complaints about this issue in the products I have sold, but I will be even more careful from now on. To be honest, I was quite shocked, but I am relieved that it didn’t happen with an overseas customer. I will give the corrected bracelet to M again tomorrow.

This was probably the first time I saw someone who purchased a Flower Jem necklace wearing it up close. Flower Jem mainly sells outside Japan. There are many competitors in Japan, and the major and mid-sized pearl companies are also former business partners of the company where I used to work. Selling overseas gives me the advantage of being able to share personal things more freely because of the physical distance.

So this video will show Flower Jem’s lack of experience. This bracelet was made for a man, so I chose pearls with slightly rougher surfaces and shapes, but they are still beautifully natural blue. Please take a look at that as well.
