I've been really digging this latest #LANDMVRKS album, 'The Darkest Place I've Ever Been', & this track is one of my favorites. If you're not familiar with the album (or band), I suggest checking them out!
I've also just been wanting to do some content for slightly more modern / current stuff. Don't get me wrong... I love covering old songs from 10-20 years ago (in fact, next week's video will be another one of those... so fret not, they're not going away! Haha). But I would also like to get another touring gig at some point. So... yeah. Playing & performing stuff that is just a biiiiit more relevant & current probably wouldn't hurt. On top of that, there're just a lot of incredible younger bands out there (like this one!).
(& just a reminder, ya'll... I am not in a band right now, & have been looking. Just reiterating for the record...!)
Anyway: I say "younger bands" but, technically Landmvrks is 4x albums deep... Haha. They seem to've really hit their stride in recent years though, & this album seems to be doing incredibly well for them (which is no surprise - it's sick!). My point is: In addition to my usual thing, I'll be trying to do slightly more current stuff moving forward, too.
Annnnd being that I've just completed barber school, I should start to have a lot more time again soon (just gotta get past my state board exams next week!). In addition to barber school (& waning mental health), the other huge time-consumer I had to deal with in the last year was this horrifically awful neighbor that threatened to sue me, & generally made my drumming-life totally miserable. But as you may notice, there've been some subtle changes in the background in this video... it's actually wild that it only appears 'subtle' now, too... I basically ripped out the entire side of the room, did a huge amount of sound proofing, & brought the overall outside-decibel level down nearly 15 db. Upon completion I put the same ol' carpet back up on the walls, though --- so all in, it doesn't appear that different. Lol.
Point is: I was originally hoping to've ALREADY been more active online this last year, but seemed to have a number of things working against me. Hopefully now, I can actually stick to being a bit more active again.
& definitely check out this band / album if you're unfamiliar -- will put some links below! They rule. Shoutout to their drummer, Kevin D'Agostino -- he's a super nice dude & a killer drummer. Had a lot of fun learning some of his parts.

You're a sick dude, Kevin 🤙🏼🤘🏼🤍 !
& last but certainly not least, shoutout to good-buddy / sickest-of-dudes... Declan White (!) for the killer mix (as per usual!). OH &, the stem audio for this video was actually made with an AI-Splitter... it turned out shockingly good, too. I guess I shouldn't be that surprised that the technology there is continuing to improve, but yeah. Still pretty wild. Wasn't toootally perfect, though --- there were a lot of artifacts (in the guitars especially). Had to go through & copy/paste small bits of certain parts... basically tried to replace any weird sounding clips / artifacts with edits from elsewhere in the song where it wasn't as much of an issue. Turned out really good in the end though, I think!
