Department Introduction

Matsu New Village Cultural and Creative Park was built in Zhongli District in 1957, for the families of military personnel who were accredited to defend in Matsu. Henceforth, the residential area was named Matsu New Village. Due to the reconstruction project directed by Ministry of National Defense, the local residents completed a relocation in 2004. To preserve and promote cultural assets, the Ministry of Culture registered 44 of the premises as historical buildings, and has been its administrator since 2015. The Ministry of Culture renovated parts of previous residential areas in Matsu New Village into spaces for cultural and creative stores and hostels which are designed for the cultural creative artists to design and sell their artworks. The new theme, Culture and Creative Brand Month, gives birth to the new brand Matsu Village Market and offers hands-on experiences for visitors in the village. We dedicate ourselves to congregate the vitality and to cultivate talents of cultural and creative in Taoyuan City, by innovating products, connecting community, growing the brands and cultivating the talented. Furthermore, we hope Matsu New Village to be an international culture and creative community, and to preserve the historical value and interpret the veterans’ village culture within a modern way
