Today's vintage-inspired video steps into classic film history as I track down a remaining filming location to the noir classic and visit the final resting places of Fred MacMurray, Billy Wilder, and Raymond Chandler — the legends who made it all come to life.
Step back into 1944, when Barbara Stanwyck and Fred MacMurray (inspired by true events) plotted the perfect crime under Billy Wilder’s direction. In this video, we explore one of the few surviving Double Indemnity filming locations, a place where the shadows of classic Hollywood still linger.
From there, we turn to the men behind the masterpiece. I’ll take you to the grave of Fred MacMurray, the actor who brought Walter Neff to life; Billy Wilder, the visionary who defined film noir; and Raymond Chandler, the hardboiled writer whose words dripped with tension and cynicism.
