About The Academy
Bay Area Harp & Music Academy, founded over 20 years ago by
Kristal Schwartz, is home to more than fifty students — from
young beginners to advanced harpists preparing for professional
performance. Our mission is to make the harp accessible to
everyone who wants to learn. We teach the Salzedo method in
weekly private lessons and offer a rich variety of programs,
including youth and adult ensembles, workshops, recitals,
certification programs, therapeutic harp education, and
community outreach. Students also enjoy opportunities for
performance, teaching, and professional development through
our vibrant Bay Area music community.
About The Foundation
Bay Area Harp Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to
expanding access to harp education and performance throughout
our community. We believe beauty should never be a privilege,
every person deserves the chance to experience the calm,
confidence, and creativity that music brings.
The Foundation supports youth and adult harp ensembles,
provides scholarships and instruments for students in need, and
brings harp music to schools, hospitals, and senior centers
through outreach performances. Beyond performance, we focus
on transformation: music education builds discipline, confidence,
and empathy while connecting people across generations and
backgrounds.
Through our programs, the harp becomes more than an
instrument, it becomes a bridge. We use music to unite people
through beauty, creativity, and service, fostering harmony,
resilience, and excellence in a world that needs all three.
