A five-time All-Ireland Senior Football Champion with Kerry GAA, Jimmy helped define the golden era of Gaelic Football in the Kingdom, earning admiration not only for his athletic brilliance, but for his leadership on and off the field.

But the final whistle never stopped Jimmy.

Jimmy brought the same integrity to his political career as he did to his playing days:

Served as a long-standing Fine Gael TD for Kerry

Appointed Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht (2011–2014) under Taoiseach Enda Kenny
