The presentation begins by offering participants a richer understanding of the contemporary operating environment while describing why Congressional and Army leaders are focusing more intently on “contested logistics”. The briefer provides a review of the sustainment-related challenges commensurate with this environment, to include a deeper look at supply chain-specific ones. The presentation then offers several insights in terms of how the Army is meeting these challenges through industrial base and supply chain improvements and novel approaches to freight management. We conclude with a quick review of how the Army develops its future warfighting capabilities, to include sustainment ones and others.
