Do you remember the feeling when you were young - going into a music store and being obsessed with the drum kits? I remember it clearly.

I was in love with the different finishes on the kits, the sizes of the drums, and what all the different cymbals sounded like.

These days, I can explore all of this stuff, and get close to that nostalgic childhood feeling, all from the comfort of my home.

And you might be surprised to learn that this option is available to everyone. And you don't even need to leave your house.

I've used Toontrack software, and their sample libraries since the very beginning of TesseracT. In fact, the first TesseracT recordings I ever heard featured Toontrack drum samples - and back then, I thought it was a ridiculous drummer playing for the band. I didn't realize it was a guitarist, in his bedroom, clicking in the drum beats using his mouse...

It's not unfair to say that without Toontrack, there might not have been a TesseracT.

Whenever I feel like it, I can explore new studio-quality kit sounds, literally at the push of a button and I can load up presets by some of the world's top audio engineers too.

I can make a custom kit that matches the sizes and sounds of my acoustic kit - and then I can try out new cymbals or tom sizes.

These days I have about 300 snares. Not literally - they're in my computer - but I get to switch my snare out whenever I want. And something I've discovered is that when I do this to a whole kit - I play differently. It opens up a door for me that I haven't opened before and I can hear new ideas, and see new pathways in the music.

We truly live in an incredible age for music and music production - and I'm super grateful to have access to tools like this to help me explore my creativity.
