Aldo Marin's journey into the world of DJ'ing commenced at the remarkable age of ten, within the warm embrace of his family's cherished Record store establishment, "The Music House," nestled on Dyckman Street in the vibrant locale of Washington Heights, New York. An extraordinary opportunity arose when he was merely eighteen, beckoning him to showcase his skills in 1981 on a mix show led by the esteemed Carlos De Jesus on the hottest FM station in New York, 92 WKTU.

In a stunningly quick progression, he swiftly ascended to claim a prestigious GOLD Record, triumphantly securing the pinnacle position in the fierce "Battle of the Disco DJ's" on the station within a mere two years. Unstoppably driven, Aldo launched Cutting Records straight out of the very record store that had nurtured his passion, introducing the world to their inaugural release, the iconic "Al-Naafiysh (The Soul)" by Hashim, renowned among DJs as "It's Time!!".

Notably, he stands as the co-founder of the esteemed NYC independent record label Cutting Records, a pioneering establishment born in 1983, and proudly contributed his expertise to the NARAS (Grammy) Latin Advisory Committee for the New York Chapter from 1998 to 2000, before serving on the revered NARAS Board of Governors for the New York Chapter from 2002 to 2003. Aldo Marin's profound impact and unwavering dedication to the music industry echo through the annals of time, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of music lovers and fellow industry professionals.

This 22-minute treasure holds a special place in my heart as it was captured on my trusty old boombox. The sound quality may be a bit rough due to the recording device, but history was captured.
