Lesson 2888 - 23rd Word - 2nd Topic - 4th Point
The Fourth Point:
A human being in this universe is like a very delicate and cherished child.
There is a great strength hidden in his weakness (za'f) and a great power hidden in his helplessness (acz).
Because it is with the strength of that weakness and the power of that helplessness that all of creation has been made subservient to him.
If a person understands their weakness and prays—with their words, their state (halen), and their actions (tavren)—and if they recognize their helplessness and seek help (istimdad);
...then, along with offering gratitude for this subservience, they will succeed in their goals, and have their desires made subservient to them so effectively, that they could not achieve even a tiny fraction (öşr-i mi'şar) of it with their own personal power.
The only thing is, sometimes, when a desire is granted through the 'prayer of one's state' (lisan-ı hal), he wrongly attributes it to his own power.
For example: The "strength" in a chick's weakness is what makes a mother hen attack a lion.
The newborn lion cub, in its helplessness, makes that ferocious and hungry lioness subservient to it, causing the mother to go hungry just to feed her cub.
This is a point worthy of attention: a strength hidden in weakness, and a beautiful manifestation of mercy worthy of contemplation.
It is just like how a cherished (nazdar) child gets whatever he wants just by crying, or asking, or with his sad expression. Even the most powerful people become subservient to him, though he couldn't obtain even one-thousandth of those desires with his own tiny bit of strength.
This means his weakness and helplessness activate (tahrik ettikleri için) compassion and protection, allowing him to command heroes with his tiny finger.
Now, if such a child were to deny that compassion, and accuse that protection, and with foolish arrogance say, "I am subduing these people with my own strength," he would certainly receive a slap.
In the same way, if a human being, in a manner that denies the mercy of his Creator and accuses His wisdom, shows ingratitude like Qarun (Korah) when he said,
"I was only given this because of my own knowledge,"
...that is, "I earned this with my own knowledge and my own power," he absolutely makes himself deserving of a slap of punishment.
This means that this witnessed sovereignty of humanity, and all this human progress, and the perfections of civilization... they were not achieved by force, not by domination, and not by struggle.
Rather, creation has been made subservient to him because of his weakness.
He has been assisted because of his helplessness.
(page sh-327)
He has been given bounties because of his poverty.
He has been inspired because of his ignorance.
And he has been shown generosity because of his need.
And the reason for this sovereignty is not human power or scientific might; rather, it is the Divine compassion and tenderness (şefkat ve re'fet-i Rabbaniye) and the Divine mercy and wisdom (rahmet ve hikmet-i İlahiyedir) that has made things subservient to him.
Yes, for a human who can be defeated by an eyeless scorpion or a legless snake, to be clothed in silk from a tiny worm and fed honey from a poisonous bee... this is not his power. Rather, it is the Lordly service (teshir-i Rabbanî) and Merciful gift (ikram-ı Rahmanî) that is the fruit of his weakness.
O human!
Since this is the truth, abandon your arrogance and egoism (enaniyet).
At the doorstep of Divinity, declare your helplessness (acz) and weakness (za'f) with the tongue of seeking help (istimdad);
...announce your poverty and needs (fakr ve hacat) with the tongue of supplication and prayer (tazarrû ve dua), and show that you are a servant (abd).
And say, "God is sufficient for us, and He is the best Disposer of affairs," (Hasbunallâhu wa ni’mal wakîl) and you will be elevated.
And do not say: "I am nothing. What importance do I have that this entire universe would be intentionally made subservient to me by an Absolute Wise One, and that universal gratitude would be demanded of me?"
Because, although you are, in terms of your self (nefs) and your form, next to nothing...
...in terms of your duty and rank, you are a careful spectator of this magnificent universe, an eloquent speaking tongue for these wise creatures, an understanding reader of this Book of the World, an astonished observer of these glorifying creations, and a respected supervisor (ustabaşı) over these worshipping works of art.
Yes, O human!
In terms of your plant-like body and your animalistic self, you are a tiny part, an insignificant piece, a poor creature, a weak animal, tossed about in the waves of all these terrifying, flowing beings.
But... when you are illuminated by the light of faith, which contains the radiance of Divine love, and you are perfected by the training of Islam;
...then, in terms of your humanity, you are a sultan within your servitude, a universal whole within your small part, a whole
