"'Hineni' - Here I Am!" - Sermon for 10/12/2025

The text for this Sunday was Samuel 3:1-21. Samuel was a young boy in the temple, and God called him by name — "Samuel! Samuel!" At first, he didn't realize it was God's voice, but God persisted until Samuel responded. 'Hineni' is the Hebrew word for 'here I am!' — fully and completely present, in body, mind, and spirit, ready to respond. As God didn't give up on Samuel, neither does God give up on us. God still calls us by name to serve those in need. We may not hear God in the same way that Samuel did, but God continues to speak through the scriptures, prayer, the Holy Spirit, and through others who know us, care for us and encourage us to hear God's call. Will we listen? Will we respond? May we say "Hineni! Here I am, Lord!"
