property of hollywood peasants
speed, size: 45 rpm, 7"
this was originally pressed on columbia record D.X. 1280, with the b side "the highland schottische." most of harry davidson's work seems to be collected into compilations through the 60s and 80s, surprisingly enough. he got started out in 78s in the 40s, like many of those sorta artists did.
the hollywood peasants were an international folk dance group based in hollywood, california– they met at the dance studio of letitia innes, more commonly known as tish sommers. they lasted a very long time, i have found blurbs about them in both the 40s and 80s! they also coined the hot pretzels dance, which is still popular today
the record store in which i found this in had a bunch of 45s and 78s seemingly from their stock. i hope there are people out there who care about this little niche part of la history, so they can snatch it all up before it gets tossed!
