Inspired by the performance of his early 1,100 cc D46 Monoposto racers, owner Piero Dusio next focused his resources on a small grand touring masterpiece — the Cisitalia 202. The 202 was made available as a coupe or cabriolet with couch-built aluminum bodywork from Pinin Farina, Vignale and Stabilimenti Farina. Between 160 and 170 Cisitalia 202s were built between 1947 and 1950, and sources indicate around 100 were coupes and 60 were drop-top cabriolets.
To get the most out of the modified Fiat four-cylinder engines, Pinin Farina designed a tight and aerodynamically friendly body that contradicted established design norms of the day. Instead of utilizing separate shapes for the wheels, passengers and engine compartment, the 202 featured a uniform body shape, setting a new standard for postwar automobile design.
Recently imported from Argentina, this 1950 Cisitalia 202 cabriolet is a nicely restored example, and a great representation of the marque.
