Dr. Ben Sidran has been on the frontlines advocating the history, education, and preservation of jazz music for well over six decades. He was prolific broadcaster hosting NPR's "Sidran on Record" and the Peabody award winning "New Visions" seen on VH1. In addition to writing books and lecturing, Ben has been a critically acclaimed jazz pianist and record producer.
Recently Ben performed four sold-out shows at the famed Mezzrow Jazz Club in New York performing music from his new live album, "Are We There Yet?". The album was recorded in Paris last summer and is a intimate set of Ben's originals and standards.
Ben and Brian sit down and discuss the new record, reflect on his role as a record producer, discuss the life and legacy of producer Tommy LiPuma, and his role as a journalist and writer.
