Was Erastus from the Bible a real person? In this video, we take you to the streets of ancient Corinth, where an inscription was discovered that directly connects to someone mentioned in the New Testament. This archaeological discovery strengthens the case for the historical reliability of Scripture—one pebble on the mountain of evidence for Christianity.
We visited the Erastus inscription in Corinth, Greece, where our Greek guide helped translate the Latin text:
"Erastus in return for his aedileship laid this pavement at his own expense."
This matches the biblical description of Erastus in Romans 16:23, where Paul refers to him as "the treasurer of the city."
Erastus is also mentioned in:
Acts 19:22
2 Timothy 4:20
These references, combined with the physical stone in Corinth, make a powerful case for the historical accuracy of the Bible.
