In this video I share my top 3 stitches for adding texture and evoking nature’s textures: woven pivot, drizzle stitch and woven pin wheel or whipped spiderweb. I show how you can use these stitches and old scraps of lace and vintage linens to create a coral reef brooch or to include in your slow stitching projects. I also share the Beatlemania exhibition where my large coral reef Octopus Garden piece is being exhibited.
As always, when playing with nature’s textures, I am inspired by Fleur Woods, who is an amazing fibre and textile artist. I am incredibly grateful to have attended a number of Fleur Woods retreats and workshops.
The brooch is part of the #whimsicalwearables collaboration with Sally from @DottyBeeVintage and Kristy from @SewbitsKristy
