Unlocking AI at Scale- The CIO Perspective

The panel discussed the biggest obstacles in making AI real for enterprises, emphasizing that overcoming people’s reluctance to change is often more challenging than process or technology issues. Rapid AI transformation in organizations requires strong leadership and top-level alignment. Among practical use cases, software development and engineering have shown significant productivity gains, while automating customer support works better for B2C than for B2B environments. However, quality, safety, data governance, and security remain critical challenges. The CIO should drive AI initiatives, but their success depends on robust business leadership. Traditional systems of record, such as SAP and Workday, will continue to play a central role, with AI agents increasingly simplifying the engagement layer. Measuring AI’s ROI is still difficult, so user adoption serves as a practical value signal, and safe experimentation through governance platforms is encouraged to foster innovation.
