If you want to find a corner of the world that isn't commercialized and overrun with tourists / tourism then the central northern region of Cantabria in Spain is it. It's also home to the Picos de Europa mountains which form the Picos de Europa National Park - it's one of Spain's largest national parks and as such has lots of walking and hiking trails as well as lots of wildlife (horses, goats, sheep, cows and even BROWN BEARS!) and birdlife too. This review video gives an inside look to the park and its mountains as well as a couple of awesome hikes I recommend - both are 9 miles (15km) long and not too difficult. This film also features the famous Fuente De funicular (called a cable car or aerial tram or telerifico too depending where you come from) which whisks passengers up to 1850m high in the Picos (that's 6000 feet in old money!) This is such an awesome, wonderful part of the world - I can't recommend it highly enough. And coming soon will be a video on the whole of the Cantabria region - the best place to stay here and the best things to do. One of which, of course, is hiking! Watch on to see why this is one of the best places in the world to hike...our second hike takes us past some of Spain's most remote villages. One's called Tudes and is a farming village where locals still use horses for transport. The other is an abandoned hamlet called La Porcieda - the whole hamlet (which includes a LOT of land and at least half a dozen or so ramshackle houses) is on sale for a million euros ($1.1)!! Anyone fancy buying it?!
