Some guitarists swear by it. Others think it never lived up to the hype. The Neural DSP Quad Cortex — one of the most anticipated pieces of digital guitar gear EVER... but did it actually deliver?
Right now, only ~32% of Neural DSP’s plugins are compatible with the Quad Cortex, with a massive ~45% still not supported at all — and after three and a half years of waiting, we’ve only seen the first handful arrive. For many players, that's been a very long and rocky road.
In this video, Rob Craft from A Minor Error breaks down the Quad Cortex after years of real-world gigging, recording, and teaching sessions. From tone quality and workflow to updates, ecosystem limitations, and live performance reliability, this is a no-BS look at whether the QC still competes in 2025 — or if it fell short of its massive promise.

💀 FINAL THOUGHTS
The Quad Cortex isn’t a bad unit — far from it. It sounds great, looks sleek, and Neural Capture can be incredible. But slow plugin rollout, missing features, and huge expectations left a lot of players frustrated. If you value portability and the Neural sound, it still might be your rig. If you want the most complete, constantly-evolving platform… there are stronger options right now.
