The First Step On The Red Planet
I am going to Mars for the first time. I feel both happy and nervous
because I am about to make history as the first human to step into the Red Planet. As a Bangladeshi and an NASA astronaut, I am proud, knowing this moment will inspire my country and all of world.
I sit inside the rocket with my three crewmates, waiting for the countdown. The engines roar, and we leave Earth behind. The journey will take nine months—long and challenging but filled with hope.
For eight months, everything is smooth. We work, laugh, and dream of stepping on Mars. Then, disaster strikes. A small asteroid hits our rocket, damaging it. One crewmate goes outside to repair it, but the ship vibrates violently, throwing them into space. We watch, helpless, as they drift away.
Despite the grief, we push forward. A month later, we reached Mars’ orbit. The red land stretches below us. Our ship lands. There is silence. I step out, leaving the first human footprint on Mars. I plant my flag, looking at Earth—a small blue dot. "For all people," I whisper. The journey begins.
