In this video, two of our radiotherapy research patient representatives introduce the Radiotherapy Timeline – a physical display in the Radiotherapy Department at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, part of Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, UK. The timeline opened in 2022 and was developed by the Cancer Research UK RadNet Cambridge Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement in Radiotherapy Research Group and funded by CRUK RadNet Cambridge and Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust.
They explain how radiotherapy has developed over the years, the progress that has been made, and the important role that patients and the public have played by taking part in clinical trials.
This video was prepared and presented by patient contributors, highlighting the value of lived experience in radiotherapy research and care. It was created for @WorldRadiotherapyAwarenessDay 2025.
